What We Do

Los Angeles County Young Democrats – or LACYD as we’re best known – is the largest organization in LA County and one of the largest in California focused on bringing together young Democrats and giving us a voice.

We help elect candidates that reflect our values, fight for causes that matter to young people, and host events that bring people together. Our organization is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to learn about leadership, get more involved in the Democratic party, and make a difference.

Our progressive values of equity and inclusion are at the center of our work to advocate for candidates and causes, empower young people, and ensure our leaders reflect the diversity of LA County.

LACYD was founded in the 1970s and our alumni include numerous elected officials and prominent leaders in our communities. Our organization has decades of history of activism and engagement in the LA County region.
